Customer Story: Reducing Programming Time by 40%
Kozio provided a flash programming tool that was used to replace a prior flash programming solution. The Kozio solution integrated with JTAG hardware and provided a programming solution that reduced time spent on every manufactured unit by 40%.
This customer was using a JTAG programming solution to program multiple images into their NOR Flash during circuit board device manufacturing. The solution was used for several years, but due to a couple factors, they decided on investigating a new solution. Kozio and another solution were the two prime candidates.
The challenge was to find a programming solution that could be integrated into their custom test executive, be used for multiple circuit board designs, be used across multiple contract manufacturers, and provide at least the same performance as their current solution.
This customer looked at many solutions and performed a through investigation of two prime candidates – with Kozio’s VTOS Program™ being one of the two candidates.
Kozio provides an API that can be used to automate device programming, memory testing, and hardware testing. This API can be used with any of the VTOS Tools™: VTOS Program™, VTOS DDR™, or VTOS Scan™. This API is what allowed the customer to use this solution with their custom test executive.
VTOS Program also supports many processors from a range of SoC manufacturers. Additional support is being provided for processors not previously supported. In addition, the VTOS Program solution can program any NOR Flash part out of the box.
The setup is fast and provides a step to auto-discover a flash part. The user can add operations to erase, program, and verify the data programmed. The VTOS Program GUI is used to quickly add as many steps as required to program all image files.
Once a configuration is defined and tested by the customer, it is exported for use on all programming stations. And the same solution can be installed at multiple contract manufacturers.
