Customer Story: Success Finding DDR Settings across Temps
Kozio provided a DDR calibration and validation tool that was used to find optimal DDR settings on an ARM® Cortex®-M4 board design. The customer used VTOS DDR™ to find DDR settings that worked across all temperatures. DDR settings obtained from two other tools did not work.
This senior design engineer was working with a new ARM® Cortex®-M4 board design and was working on optimal DDR settings. He used two methods to determine DDR settings, plus a lot of his time researching background information. He used a DDR wizard tool and a free tool provided by the processor manufacturer. He developed settings that worked at room temperature, but they did not work when scaling from -40C to +80C.
The challenge was to find DDR settings that worked through all required temperatures; without spending weeks to months doing manual calculations and observations with an oscilloscope.
This designer purchased VTOS DDR™ and the product was installed from Kozio’s web site. After receiving a purchaser order, a license was emailed to the designer. This customer’s clocking configuration was quite different than the standard reference boards, so Kozio delivered a product update that allowed VTOS DDR™ firmware to boot on any design using that processor family. He then used board configuration settings to configure appropriate clock settings to run all tests at full speed. The customer used VTOS DDR™ to find optimal settings and was able to get all Kozio memory tests to pass at all required temperature settings.
