Integration Workbench™

Overview

The Verified!™ Integration Workbench is a PC-based GUI application that communicates with VTOS running on a Device Under Test (DUT), allowing interactive hardware control, automatic test execution, convenient maintenance of test cases, and easy access to the VTOS trace facility. Together, these features allow maximum reuse across the entire product life cycle: Engineering, Production, and Field Test.

Integration Workbench’s simple point-and-click interface uses a visible command tree that exposes all levels of test options including suites, diagnostics, test methods and low-level commands. Regression test suites are supported to uncover any new errors after changes have been made to the hardware. Through a single command, an entire board can be tested within minutes, at the hardware's full operating speed.

A Modern Tool for Hardware Software Integration on Embedded Systems

The traditional interface to a DUT is a terminal emulator running on a host PC, communicating across a serial link. Using this method requires firmware engineers to write embedded code for menu and prompt creation and to modify that code for each new design. Rarely can the same process and interface be leveraged from one project to another, requiring debug engineers to retrain on every new design.

Integration Workbench supports serial communications, but also supports today’s high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet and USB. Command-sets for each new design are automatically loaded through a structured text file, eliminating the need to learn different commands, options, or user interfaces. Even infrequent users have an easy way to quickly execute target commands.

For firmware and software developers, Integration Workbench provides quick access to the register values and setup sequences used by VTOS. These values can be used to jumpstart production bootloader development and debug. In addition, compile/test turnaround time can be radically reduced using Integration Workbench’s support for file downloads over high-speed interfaces.

The Integration Workbench Environment

The Integration Workbench environment provides a convenient, fast and common method for validating and programming components on the target device through the click of a mouse. Whether users need to program an EEPROM, NAND, NOR, FPGA, CPLD or other programmable logic device, the interface and method makes the task straightforward and fast.

Integration Workbench delivers is an ideal vehicle for individuals to collaborate and share knowledge about integrating hardware and software on embedded systems. This knowledge is exchanged in the form of VTOS scripts, device configuration settings, and working initialization sequences.
