Kozio Announces Comprehensive Diagnostic Software for Intel® XScale® Microarchitecture-Based Embedded Designs
Embedded systems software developer saves customers time, money with turnkey hardware validation software
September 9, 2003, Longmont, Colo. – Kozio today announced its plan to release kDiagnostics™ software, which eases many of the challenges of embedded systems development, from design through manufacturing and support. Diagnostics include functional and performance tests for processors, memory, busses, and peripherals, with support for XScale-based I/O processors and chip sets, including the Intel® 80200 Processor. Product development teams use kDiagnostics to:
- Facilitate board bring-up.
- Immediately verify new embedded designs.
- Isolate design errors early-on.
- Measure actual system performance without simulation.
- Exercise board components for compliance testing.
- Automatically validate all manufactured units before shipping to OEM customers or end users.
kDiagnostics software accesses, initializes, exercises, and verifies all board components, providing ongoing test status and summary data, generating unique error codes for any issues encountered. Once a test suite is completed, the flexibility to then run individual tests gives designers greater precision in isolating hardware bugs. “By identifying design issues at the prototype stage, designers can avoid unnecessary board spins, said Joseph Skazinski, the company president. “With automated manufacturing test capability, device manufacturers can reduce the number of bad shipments, cutting support costs while increasing customer satisfaction.”
Flash-N-Run™ Technology
kDiagnostics is delivered ready-to-run on unique embedded designs. With an integrated boot manager and application loader, users simply download the image into Flash memory on the target platform to begin testing. “Diagnostics, such as Kozio’s kDiagnostics, is a very important task in our customers’ development of products based on our Intel XScale technology-based I/O processors,” said Dave Boehmer, Director of Applications and Platform Engineering for Intel’s Storage Components Division.
Comprehensive Test Coverage
Designed to test prototypes as final boards will be used, kDiagnostics offers a comprehensive database of test primitives, data streaming, user-specified data patterns, thorough data integrity tests, loop back test capability, and advanced scripting support. With extensive user aids including a help system, tutorials, and quick start guide, designers have the option to extend coverage for proprietary logic such as ASICs or FPGAs, or rely on capable Kozio technical consultants to provide a turnkey diagnostic solution.

kDiagnostics will be available in October 2003. Typically, each kDiagnostics license is tied to an individual hardware platform, allowing unlimited copies for internal use.
